Period Features
Being a quintessentially British country estate and stately home venue, Ragley can offer a wide range of settings for location filming, television and photography projects. The Hall, designed by Robert Hooke in 1680, sits at the centre of an estate spanning approximately 5,600 acres of parkland, woodland, farmland, a lake and working stable yard.
The approach into Ragley Hall passes through the historic gatehouses (one of which is now a holiday cottage), along a sweeping drive, before the final turn reveals the views of the front of The Hall. This is a much sought-after setting, dominated by the Palladian architecture, and the sweeping steps leading directly to The Great Hall.
Surrounding The Hall are south and west terraces on two sides, looking out over acres of landscaped gardens with formal gardens, woodland and topiary.
Inside Ragley Hall you will find a 17th century Palladian stately home, with many original and unique features, including a grand ballroom with 40ft floor-to-ceiling windows in a baroque and rococo design, and breathtaking views beyond.
There are a range of other rooms including ornate sitting rooms, a large library, music room, breakfast suites and bedrooms all perfectly suited to period location filming. Each room varies in style and colour, with an over-arching design decorated by James Gibbs and added to by John Wyatt in the late 1700s.
Ragley’s most memorable location comes in the form of a beautifully illustrated staircase. The South Staircase mural, painted over 14 years by artist Graham Rust, depicts the story of The Temptation from The Bible.
From the rich red fabrics and ornate golds of the Red Saloon, to the bright yellow regency dining room, painted to mirror the 8th Marquess of Hertford’s favourite jumper colour, each room offers a diverse and unique setting, ready to be immortalised on film. Many offer a blank canvas, ready to be dressed for the period of your project.
